Strawberries Are Peaking
Frutzberg · Week 11, 2026
The Bekaa Valley strawberry crop came in ten days early this year. The warm February rains followed by cool March nights created exactly the sugar-acid balance that makes Lebanese strawberries exceptional.
We tasted through six farms this week. Abu Fadi's plot in Zahle is producing the best fruit we've seen in three seasons — deep red all the way through, no white core, and a fragrance that fills the room when you open the box.
We're pricing them at $2.99/kg this week because we want everyone to taste what peak strawberry season feels like. This window lasts maybe three more weeks before the heat takes over.
Also worth noting:
- Avocados from the coast are creamy and perfectly ripe
- Local cucumbers are back — crisp and sweet
- Skip the imported tomatoes — wait two weeks for the Lebanese ones
